The story of Beck Evans begins with the passion, ambition, and determination of Stuart Evans. At the age of just 17, Stuart's journey into the automotive world started with a remarkable opportunity - an apprenticeship with the renowned Williams Formula 1 team. Although Stuart's dream was to one day race professionally, fate had other plans. After an adventurous start that saw three Frank Williams Mini Coopers pushed beyond their limits (and subsequently blown up!), it became clear that his calling wasn't behind the wheel, but under the bonnet and in the heart of the business.

Stuart's passion for cars was inherited from his father, Alan Evans, who had built a successful career as a sales manager at Dees of Sidcup. Recognising the potential of combining their skills and knowledge, father and son embarked on what would become a thriving venture in the automotive industry. In 1974, Stuart and Alan opened their first car sales site in Belvedere. Their hands-on approach, family values, and keen business sense quickly led to success, allowing them to expand their operations. By the early 1980s, they launched a second location in Bexleyheath, laying the foundation for what would later be known as Beck Evans.

From the very beginning, Beck Evans has remained a family-run business, with each family member playing a vital role in its growth. Stuart's mother, Betty Evans, managed the financial side of the business, ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes, while Stuart focused on his talent for identifying top-quality vehicles. Alan, with his years of sales experience, led the charge in customer relations and sales. This strong familial foundation helped Beck Evans establish a reputation for integrity, quality, and exceptional service.

Through the 1980s and 1990s, Stuart's expertise in sourcing and supplying wholesale cars earned him a sterling reputation within the industry. His eye for quality and reliability was unmatched, allowing Beck Evans to grow steadily over the decades. With new workshops opening in Sidcup and Erith, the business became a regional powerhouse, catering to the needs of both wholesale and retail customers.

As the millennium approached, Beck Evans embraced the future of the automotive industry. In the late 1990s, Stuart shifted his focus entirely to retailing specialist cars from home, recognising the growing demand for prestige and high-performance vehicles. It was during this transformative period that Stuart's sons, Samuel and Daniel, joined the family business. With fresh perspectives and modern insights, they helped steer Beck Evans into the 21st century, driving growth and innovation.

In 2008, Beck Evans took a bold step forward by acquiring the current Sidcup site, incorporating a state-of-the-art sales and service department. This strategic move further cemented the company's reputation as a leader in the prestige car market. Stuart's unwavering dedication and leadership were recognised in 2019 when he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award—an accolade that reflects his profound impact on the industry and the legacy he has built.

Beck Evans' success continued with the acquisition of a new storage unit in 2018, doubling its stock and allowing the business to expand its range to over 200 vehicles, including a diverse selection of more than 50 commercial vehicles. With a dedicated team of over 20 staff members, and growing, Beck Evans continues to evolve while staying true to its roots.
