What does Sale or return mean? 'Sale or Return' (SoR) is an agreement between you (the client) and us (the seller), in which you commission Beck Evans to sell your vehicle on your behalf. We refer to this service as S.O.R.S. (short for 'Sale or Return Scheme').

How much does this service cost?

Nothing! We don't charge you for the services listed above, you only pay a commission fee which will be agreed when we enter into the deal. What's more, you don't need to pay for insurance when we take over the temporary ownership of your car, which is a saving in itself. Ultimately, you decide to sell and you save money on advertising, not to mention the time and hassle of selling a car yourself. You will receive the full amount of the vehicle as detailed in the contract and we will, of course, keep you informed of any offers. The only fee you may incur is should we have to collect your vehicle from you.

Do I leave my vehicle with you?

Yes! Leave your vehicle with us and we will prepare it to showroom standards. Your car will sit amongst our stock as if it were one of our own. It is a secure facility and you don’t need to worry about insurance, as we take on the cost of that too as soon as the vehicle is in our care. We will agree on a cost for preparation services and we can deduct it from the final sale total. In the event of your car not being sold, we will not charge you for the preparation services.

Is my vehicle protected?

Absolutely We have insurance for each car up to £1 Million. So you can be safe in the knowledge that your car is in safe hands. A signed agreement is legally binding so you can be sure that we are operating with total transparency. Our facility is alarmed with constant CCTV monitoring. We won’t let a potential buyer test drive your vehicle either, without your explicit permission first.

What happens if I have outstanding finance on my vehicle?

Not to worry We will need a settlement letter from you and if you give us the authority, we can liaise with your finance provider on your behalf, leaving you hassle-free. You will need to settle negative equity on the vehicle before the sale and we would advise you get in touch with us to speak about this in more detail.

How does it work?

Easy.. We share our knowledge of the market with you to see what your vehicle is competing against. With this insight, we can then agree on a fair price for your vehicle, once this is done we will draw up the agreement. 
Once signed, we set the wheels in motion. We will receive your vehicle and start the inspection process, before moving on to the valeting and marketing. Your vehicle will be listed on AutoTrader, Piston Heads, our website and social media, as well as other platforms to maximise the exposure. We also have a database of clients and contacts, so we can utilise these to try and match your car with a buyer.
With finance, part exchange and extended warranties, this makes for a more attractive package, than if you were to sell privately without any of these features.
As soon as an offer is made, you will be notified and then the decision is in your hands with zero pressure from us. If you agree to sell, speedy payment will be made to you and we remain responsible for the aftersales and support. It really is that simple.

What happens if my vehicle doesn't sell?

Nothing This is a very rare instance and we would take the time to discuss the details with you, should this happen. However, you would not be responsible for any transportation, insurance or advertising costs. We are a team of passionate individuals who will do everything we can to sell your vehicle but should it not sell, you can rest assured that you will not owe us anything.
